This paper introduces a digital audio and music performance data transmission protocol over an IEEE 1394 bus. Since IEEE 1394 supports the isochronous transfer method, it is preferable to transfer multimedia data such as audio and video. The protocol is designed so that it complies with the specification for digital interfaces for consumer electronic audio/video equipment, which is in the process of being standardized by the IEC.
