Lossless Compression Using IIR Prediction Filters
A new prediction filter architecture allows IIR prediction filters to be implemented in a manner that is portable across hardware platforms. The paper presents the results of lossless compression achieved using prediction filters of moderate (fourth or fifth) order on audio signals sampled at 44.1 and 88.2 kHz, illustrating the marked superiority obtainable in some cases over the more conventional FIR predictors.
