Low-Frequency Room Simulation Using Finite Difference Equations

Document Thumbnail

Room simulation at frequencies below some 200 Hz can not be carried out correctly using methods based on geometrical acoustics. The wave equation should be solved somehow. A method that discretizes the wave equation into finite difference equations (a series of very simple updating formulas) is presented. The method is evaluated according to wall impedance, degree of discretization in time and space, frequency range, calculation speed, and application.
