In order to characterize typical soundscapes for urban environments, the authors selected a corpus of methods akin to sociological surveys. Next, recording and reproduction arrangements best adapted to the soundscapes were selected by psychoacoustic tests. The results indicate that specific recording arrangements must be used outdoors for moving sources.
