7-kHz Audio Transmission Over One Analogue Telephone Line

Document Thumbnail

The paper describes a codec designed to transmit compressed audio over a standard telephone line via a V34 modem. To compress 7-kHz bandwidth audio into 24 kbits/s, the codec implements a new algorithm of code excited linear prediction (CELP) optimized for speech.
