Improvement in the audio processing circuitry in lightweight and compact multimedia notebook computers requires loudspeakers which do justice to the quality offered by the electronics. By integrating a flat-panel distributed-mode loudspeaker into a notebook computer, the required performance is met in all aspects. A general purpose electroacoustic simulation is presented, measurements given, and mechanical issues and constraints discussed.
