The development and utilization of a high-performance audio cell library for integrated circuits allows a faster design cycle at lower cost and greatly reduces risks for complex circuit functions. A system is described wherein cells are characterized and models are developed using a behavioral simulator. The designer is then presented with an integrated framework for schematic-capture, simulation, and layout to speed the complete development cycle of new circuits. Several cells are described, including amplifiers, rectifiers, digital-to-analog converters, and a high performance VCA, along with their characterization and models, and their application to new system-oriented integrated circuits.
