Scalable Digital Audio System

Document Thumbnail

In the field of broadcasting, and in recording studios specifically, dealing with digital program sources and destinations has become very important. To exclude losses introduced by repeated analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversions, the signal processing should be done in the digital domain. The scaling of appropriate hardware components such as modules for audio signal processing, interfacing, and signal distribution, according to the studio concept, offers a high degree of versatility. In this paper we introduce a scalable digital audio system based on an open bus system and show the application for a digital mixing console.
