Electrostatic Transducers for Ultrasonics

Document Thumbnail

The advantages of electrostatic type transducers for wide range operation are evident when compared with piezoelectric and magnetostrictive ultrasonic devices. Electrostatic transducers have been designed and fabricated for frequencies of 5000 cps to 200 kc. An omnidirectional transducer consisting of a one-foot hemispherical backplate and mylar diaphragm will be described.
