Practical room acoustics equalization is restricted due to the complexity of room response functions and their spatial variation. By modeling room responses as all-pole functions, their high order can be reduced. Then it is shown that model coefficients for different source/receiver positions can be optimally grouped by using a spatial Vector Quantizer so that specific listening areas can be assigned to appropriate digital equalizer coefficients.
