The installation of a new high performance sound system in the Opera House of Dortmund, Germany, was supported by computer simulation of the room acoustics and the electroacoustic equipment. Measured quality parameters like level distribution, frequency response and intelligibility are reported and compared to simulation results. The usefulness of a simulation program for presetting delay times and level values of speaker groups is emphasized.
