Study of Window Performance with Respect to the Auditory Masking Curve for Low Bit-Rate Coding Applications

Document Thumbnail

The type of transform window used before entry into the frequency domain determines the characteristics of the spectral analysis. A program has been written to model the ear and compare the performance of some common windows with respect to the theoretical response of the ear. They are judged on their ability to keep the windowed response beneath the masking curve.
