Enclosure Detuning for 20-Bit Performance

Document Thumbnail

Electromagnetic internal coupling of jitter-inducing frequencies is a major cause of clock contamination. This paper describes empirical methods of analysis and the detuning of internal enclosure cavities to minimize destructive coupling from one circuit element to another. This induces internal cavity, package parasitic, and Lenz's law resonances as these relate to 20-bit performance. Concepts and techniques are borrowed from related technical fields, such as aerospace and instrumentation, in an attempt to demythologize the design issues critical to digital audio products.
