Sound generation mechanism in labial pipes is mostly analyzed through the use of positive feedback concepts, however results are generally of little practical applicability. Negative-emittance approaches considered so far are even less instructive. A new concept of a negative-impedance approach, based on electromechanical analogies and comparisons to electronic oscillator circuits, is presented and its prospects of application discussed.
