Improving the Listening Conditions in Sound Control Rooms by Mounting the Loudspeaker in a Large Baffle

Document Thumbnail

A practical way to improve the low-frequency response in sound control rooms is presented. The problem addressed in this paper-cancellation around 100 Hz, which is caused by early refections-can be decreased by mounting the loudspeaker in a large (2 m x 2.5 m) baffle. The baffle increases the directivity of the loudspeaker and gives about 6 dB gain at low frequencies. This paper also presents some numerical methods for evaluating the diffraction.
