Small time adjustments to compensate for variations in distance between spot microphones and a main stereo pair were tested to determine their importance in improving balance in classical music recording. Experimental recording sessions were used to create listening tests for subjective assessment. The technique of using multiple microphones in conjunction with time-delay compensation is shown to be an effective recording tool.
