Disc Project: Auralization Using Directional Scattering Coefficients; and Experimental Verification of Virtual-Environment Room-Modeling Accuracy

Document Thumbnail

There are many emerging algorithms to theoretically model a room's impulse response using the image model, ray, and cone tracing. This paper proposes using an experimental impulse response in a certified variable-sided room, measured with a maximum-length sequence stimulus, for a specific loudspeaker and microphone position and documented acoustical treatment, as a verification standard to determine the accuracy of model predictions. Comparative auralization using the measured and theoretical impulse responses is used to evaluate the importance of the correlation coefficient.
