A Real-Time PC-Based Implementation of AC-2 Digital Audio Compression
The growing demand for low-cost recording, editing, and playback of high-quality digital audio can be met by using techniques for compressing the audio data. The Dolby AC-2 compression algorithm permits the data rate to be reduced to as little as 32 kbytes per second for broadcast-quality stereo audio. This paper describes a DSP-based PC add-in card which provides professional-quality performance.
