The differential perceptual audio coding (DPAC) technique is based on conventional perceptual audio coding methods, but utilizes the local stationariness of the signal to improve bit-rate requirements by up to 30% compared with these methods. Results (bit-rate requirements, NMR, seqm. SNR) are presented for the DPAC method applied to different audio signals, compared with the standard perceptual audio coding system.
