Single-Chip Implementation of an ISO/MPEG Layer III Decoder

The paper describes the implementation of an ISO/MPEG IS-11172 Layer III decoder on the newly developed DSP MASC 3500. All functions and memory to decode the Layer III bit stream is provided on the chip, resulting in an extremely cost-effective solution that is well suited for consumer applications.
