Psychoacoustic tests (identification tests) in free field and with simulated free field has been carried out with 15 subjects. A setup in anechoic chamber with 17 source positions was used in both situations. Stimulus for the free field simulation was generated using each subjects own Head-related Transfer Functions, and using an individual calibration of the headphone (data on the collection of HTFs and headphone characteristics is given in (1) and (4). Localization performance for the two situations were compared, and the result indicate that the binaural auralization is in-adequate for simulation of a static, anechoic environment.
