Proposal of 96-kHz Sampling Digital Audio

Twelve years have passed since the introduction of compact discs. World production of CDs has exceeded the production of LP records. For the past several years, there appear to be quite a few dissatisfied music lovers regarding the sound quality of compact discs in Japan. The causes have been researched, and the conclusion reached is that the band limitation of compact discs, to within 22 kHz, is one of the major reasons. Consequently, DAT with 96-kHz sampling frequency has been developed. The reproduced sound quality is as natural as a live performance. Because the sound quality of a digital audio system is determined by system design, several kinds of digital audio media with different grades of sound quality are proposed. The highest sound quality medium uses a 96-kHz sampling frequency.
