Test and Calibration Applications of Multitone Signals
Calibration of harmonic distortion, intermodulation distortion phase, and wow & flutter analyzers by traditional techniques is difficult. Digital arbitrary waveform generator technology, combined with software utilities to create multiple-sinewave signals with arbitrary amplitudes and phases, can be used to make signals of precisely-known distortion for all commonly-used harmonic and intermodulation distortion standards, precisely-known phase for phase meters, and precisely-known wow & flutter for w&f meter calibration. These calibration waveforms are absolutely stable and, as computer files, readily transferable from lab to lab.
