The Wigner Distribution: Sound Fields in Time, Frequency, and Space

Document Thumbnail

The Wigner distribution recently has become widely used to characterize analytic, spectral, and stochastic signals in many fields. Because it is the product of a Fourier Transform and an autocorrelation function, it is the most general method possible. It offers a unique way to demonstrate the necessity of diffuse reflection in the body of large rooms, such as concert halls.
