A New Sound System for the United States Senate Chamber

The paper describes a newly installed system, designed for the Federal Government, wherein digitally encoded audio data from each Senate desk is transmitted serially to a control processing system. The system consists of two redundant personal computers, each containing DSP audio signal-processing cards. All signal-processing devices are software-based, with controls available in the Microsoft Windows environment.
