This paper describes the use of a new line of silicon planar n-p-n transistors in the tuner and if stages of AM/FM multiplex receivrs to provide high-quality sound reproduction. Methods of minimizing -half-if response- (that response which occurs at a frequency separated from the desired signal by one-half the intermediate frequency) are also discussed, as well as the design of FM detectors for multiplex operation.
