An Overview of Computer Networks for Audio

Document Thumbnail

Audio engineers have traditionally copied material in real-time, but when using a computer network, delivery of information cannot be guaranteed within a specified time frame. The reasons for this are explored. The essential components of a computer network and physical topologies are discussed. The process of data transfer over a network is examined, and more potential incompatibilities of both physical media and communication protocols are highlighted.
