Digital Audio Data Compression-Tandem Coding

Document Thumbnail

The introduction of digital audio data compression codecs into the broadcast and professional audio industries has generated important debate concerning the effects of compression on high quality audio signals. With a wide range of compression codecs and complementary peripheral equipment also incorporating data compression now available, the user needs to ensure that the interconnecting of such equipment does not lead to conflict thereby compromising the sound to the extent where the distortion is audible and in extremes unusable.
