Spectral Properties of Audio Signals and Masking with Aspect to Bit Data Reduction
For coding schemes in the frequency domain a FFT filterbank is presented. The window function was adapted to the properties of the auditory system. The modulation of the filterbank was statistically investigated with several different programs. The average information flow for a critically sampled filterbank is estimated to be less than 100 bit/s. For application on coding schemes, the overlap must be small. A new synthesis window is introduced which was adapted to the analysis window.
