MFX-A Configurable Audio Post Production System
The arrival of multi-track hard-disc recording and playback systems with non-destructive editing, combined with appropriate archive technology has the potential to revolutionize many aspects of post production. However, for sound effect and dialogue production real-time control and manipulation, a RAM based architecture offers flexibility which is lacking in disc/edit-only based designs. A system is described integrating both disc and RAM based architectures. The system can be configured to handle only a few or almost all function of audio-post. These include sound archive, ADR, Disc multi-track with non-destructive editing, sound effect production and electronic Foley. Music sound track production and musical sting augmentation can also be achieved with minimal extra hardware.
