Precision Performance Measurements of a New Sound Recording Tape

Lack of standards and clear definitions make precise, repeatable performance tests on magnetic tape difficult. Typical problems and practical techniques for precise evaluation of sound tapes are described. These methods are used to compare a new high performance sound tape with older tapes.
