An Analysis of Pitch-Shifting Algorithms

Document Thumbnail

The frequently used algorithms for pitch shifting in modern digital sampling keyboards are analyzed using a common mathematical framework. The mathematically derived performance characteristics are compared, showing the strengths and limitations of the various techniques. Of particular interest are the comparisons of the various orders of digital interpolators. Audio examples to support the conclusions will be presented.
