A new approach to the simulation of room impulse responses is based on digital multirate systems. The time-frequency representation of the room impulse response based on the short-time Fourier analysis gives insight into the time-varying short-time spectrum in a certain number of frequency bands. The measured decay time in each of these frequency bands is realized by a digital multirate system.
