Acoustical Stage Support-Design and Application

Document Thumbnail

The volume and speech intelligibility at the listener's position in most multi-purpose halls during a theatrical performance is insufficient, especially if non-professional actors are on stage. The PA systems described permit good sound reinforcement, particularly for seats placed further away from the stage. When designing such systems and selecting the components criteria, such as localization, feedback rejection and optimal sound pressure levels have to be taken into consideration. An outline of the choice of microphones and where they are positioned is given. Experiences with some PA systems installed are described together with results of measurements.
