Low-Cost/High-Quality Digital Dynamic Range Processor

Document Thumbnail

Compression or expansion of the amplitude of audio signals are often applied in order to enhance/modify the dynamic characteristics of voice and instruments for musical purposes. The design of a feedforward dynamic range processor with variable threshold, ratio, attack and decay time is presented. Advantages and limitations of the system implementation using a general purpose digital signal processing card are discussed. The speed and the quality of the processing system are also analyzed.
