A Professional DAT System
This paper is concerned with a 2 channel professional DAT system which consists of a studio DAT, an editing controller and a portable DAT. The studio DAT incorporates professional functions, such as Read After Write, recording and playback of SMPTE time code, assembly/insert editing, chase synchronization and variable speed. The editing controller is designed to perform subframe editing. The editing accuracy is +/-30 microseconds. In the portable DAT, Read After Write and record/replay capability of SMPTE time code are incorporated, and the low power consumption LSIs enable full recording of a 2-hour DAT tape with a rechargeable battery.
