Timecode and Synchronization Issues for a Random Access Audio Recording Environment
The synchronization of disparate components presents a major challenge in integrating a digital audio workstation into a professional recording studio. The elements of a digital audio workstation and the synchronization signals available to it are described. Several problems of integration are presented, along with possible solutions. Finally several possible studio architectures are discussed in the context of these problems.
