A wide variety of test frequencies and levels are evaluated at which digital audio linearity and steady-state distortion measurements can be performed. The number of unique codes needed to synthesize the test signals are calculated, and the resulting sensitivity of the sequences to pinpointing digital-to-analog converter (DAC) random errors are shown. Test sequences for consumer Compact Disc (CD) equipment operating with 44.1-kHz and professional systems using 49-kHz sample frequencies are examined.:
