The paper presents investigations on audio-compandors applying new signal representation techniques. Evaluation of the performance in the case of non-stationary and transient signals is based on a joint time-frequency signal representation (Wigner Distribution). The results provide improved information on signal degradation as compared to that from conventional test methods.
