Power Handling Capacity of Loudspeakers
Measuring methods of paper capacity are shown by means of standards and specifications of companies. The kind and spectrum of the test signal is specially taken into consideration. The relation between the voltage at the terminals of the speaker and the consumption of effective and reactive power is defined by the complex impedance. Apart from the standardised measuring methods, a principle is presented of measuring effective power which is dependent on the frequency. Another method of testing the power limitation of a speaker is to find the functional dependency between input power, acoustical radiated power (dynamic linearity) and distortion. The author's wish is that a standarised method of measuring will be introduced worldwide in order to make comparisons of technical data easier.
