Musical Considerations in Computer Music Workstation Design

Document Thumbnail

Twenty-five years of fundamental research in the field of Computer music have led to a quicker development of Digital Audio Technologies. Today this research can be extended through the use of personal computers with non real-time direct synthesis capabilities. These systems can be considered full-fiedged Computer Music Autonomous Workstations (CMAWs). Reflections concerning the structure and mechanisms that underlie research and production in the ever-changing field of Computer Music lead to a detailed description of a specific workstation project, the Cagliari CMAW included in the PROGETTO CAGLIARI project.
