Through evolution in circuit design and devices, the cost/performance ratio of audio amplifiers can continue to improve. A path for further development is illustrated with the introduction of a transimpedance error correction circuit which allows the realization of a high performance amplifier using only N-ch MOSFET output devices. The technique, which balances output driver current, is illustrated with a new third-generation 400V MOSFET transistor.
