Results of the 1986 AES Audiometric Survey

Many members of the Audio Engineering Society are employed in positions that require critical listening to sounds, frequently at high intensity levels. Previous audiometric surveys of the membership suggest that some of the members are at risk for hearing loss due to the high intensity sound exposure. This prompted the Los Angeles Chapter of the AES to provide for a follow-up audiometric survey to reassess the hearing level of the AES members. The results of the survey, performed at the November, 1986 meeting in Los Angeles, are reported in this paper.
