The Magnetic Tape Recording Process in Terms of the Preisach Representation

Document Thumbnail

Instead of considering the magnetization curves which are traced during recording, this article employs the statistics of Barkhausen jumps. The representation of the recording process by the Preisach diagram leads to a unified and easily handled theory for all cases and permits an explanation of all interesting effects not previously understood. The method holds the possibility of a quantitative explanation of all properties through a more exact knowledge of the statistics of the specific material.
