Sound Radiation from Circular Stretched Membranes in Free Space

In this paper, some radiation characteristics of circular stretched vibrating membranes are calculated. The calculations include the fluid loading effects of air which are of essential influence on the membrane's vibrational behavior in the frequency range around ka=1. Results are presented to show that the sound radiation of the most prominent representative of stretched membrane loudspeakers, i.e. the electrostatic push-pull loudspeakers, may be predicted very accurately. The full numerical procedure is supplied in an appendix.
