Computer Controlled Systems in the Performing Arts

Document Thumbnail

Technical considerations are exemplified by worst-case requirements: Upon command, data must be transmitted individually to 4096 channels within 10ms defining 240 program changes in each channel for execution simultaneously in as little as 100ms - an effective rate of 100 million instructions/s. This must be accomplished within a custom-configured noise-free audio environment concurrent with multiple computer tasks such as disk access and -blind- editing.
