The principles of twin-tone generation and sideband detection are described, and an unusual method of obtaining the distortion-related sidebands from the tape output signal is discussed. This method has many advantages over the more conventional methods of suppressing the original twin-tone components in the spectrum. The accuracy and limitations of the new method are also given.
