A New PIezoelectric Driver Enhances Horn Performance

The use of piezoelectric drivers in loudspeakers, while not an entirely new principle, has always been difficult to control because of the impedance matching problems. A new larger diameter, thinner circular bender, edge mounted to the loudspeaker frame, provides a lower impedance motor for coupling to the horn diaphragm. In addition, a unique electrode pattern eliminates the fragile solder connections and improves the life and high drive capabilities of the loudspeaker.
