Musical Sound Synthesis by Forward Differences

Document Thumbnail

It is pointed out that a modified method of forward differences offers an effective means for synthesizing periodic functions, especially approximate sinusoids. In addition it can be applied to audio signal synthesis. A combination of this method and a particular modulation technique provides a wide range of musical sounds, including those of inharmonic and/or dynamic spectra.
