Pictures of 2-Channel Directional Reproduction Systems
We present a convenient method of comparing different surround-sound encoding systems using 2 transmission channels by means of graphical pictures. This PQ diagram allows the behaviour of systems to be compared by visual inspection. PQ diagrams are given of the following systems: stereo, BBC pairwise matrix H, system UHJ, and several versions of SQ, including optimal, Ghent and London box encoding. Also shown are pictures of head-related stereo, dummy-head binaural and Orban-type pseudo-stereo systems.
